Journal Idea: Mapping Indigo Bunting Dawn Song Perches
This month, I am sharing a journal page from June 15 and 16, 2020, to provide an example for a journal project. I created a song map to track a singing male Indigo Bunting at my home. I sat in one spot (thirty minutes before sunrise), and kept track of the perches the Indigo Bunting used to sing so I could note his territory.
I also noted how long he sang during each song sequence and the interval between. I stopped tracking when the bunting stopped singing from the area. This project not only revealed interesting information, but also helped me connect more intimately to the life of this Indigo Bunting.
I hope some of you are adding nature journaling to your bird and nature outings. Email me if you would like to share a journal page or have a question!
