The Indiana Audubon Society encourages you to participate in the Global Big Day on Saturday, May 8th and use #BigIN21 to share with us! All you have to do is bird (from anywhere!) on May 8th and record a checklist on eBird. It’s that simple!

Help Us Hit All Counties & Indiana Birding Trail Sites!

This year, our goal is to bird in EVERY county and Indiana Birding Trail location! Indiana has a total of 92 counties. During the 2020 Big Day event, 9 counties had no checklists for the day: Adams, Benton, Fulton, Jennings, Rush, Spencer, Steuben, Switzerland, and Vermillion.

The Indiana Birding Trail is home to 66 sites across the entire state. To coincide with the #21in21 Challenge, we are encouraging birders to log a checklist at one (or more) of these locations during Global Big Day. Indiana Audubon members that submit an eBird checklist at one of these sites will be entered to win a small prize!

Share With Us!

Global Big Day is for the birds and the fun! Share your sightings, photos, and stories with us on social media using the #BigIN21! We’ll be featuring some of your adventures on our IAS Facebook page throughout the day. Make sure to make your post public if you want to share!

About Global Big Day

Organized by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the event provides a snapshot of all the birds in the world on one particular day. No matter where you bird or for how long, consider logging checklists into eBird to help scientists understand bird populations. You can log the species at your home, a local park, or one of the 66 sites listed in the Indiana Bird Trail.  If you do not have an eBird account, it is free and easy to get started!

Happy birding and we hope you have a #BigIN21 day!
