For immediate release: 3/23/2020

The Indiana Audubon’s Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary remains open for hiking and outdoor meditation during the COVID-19 impact. Though, Indiana Audubon is monitoring the continually changing conditions and recommendations to provide adequate precautions for both preserve visitors and the resident managers.

All indoor facilities at the property are currently closed. However, visitors are welcome to practice social distancing on the preserve’s many trails as signs of spring are beginning to appear. Visitors are encouraged to practice Leave No Trace principles, including pack-in and pack-out, to keep outdoor spaces safe and healthy.

After consultation with various partnering agencies and organizations Indiana Audubon has also cancelled all field trips and events through May 3. This includes the Spring Gathering hosted at Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary the first weekend in May.

Trip and event cancellations have put financial burdens on non-profit organizations, and Indiana Audubon is among those currently feeling the pinch. Those wishing to donate towards the preserve are encouraged to consider making a $25 donation to help support the maintenance, research, and conservation projects that are going on at Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary.

To learn more about the preserve or to donate, visit Indiana Audubon on the web at or at Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary, 3499 S Bird Sanctuary Rd, Connersville, IN 47331.
