Embrace the winter chill with Indiana Audubon and witness the annual bald eagle gatherings across Indiana. In January and February, wintering eagles congregate in communal roosting sites at various rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, coinciding with their breeding season. This provides opportunities for themed trips and events dedicated to this awe-inspiring wildlife spectacle.

Indiana Audubon will host two special eagle viewing field trips around Salamonie Lake on Saturday, Jan. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 3. Both field trips will offer afternoon caravans in search of congregating eagles. Registration costs $5 for Indiana Audubon members and $10 for non-members. Given the popularity, these trips fill up quickly, so secure your spot by registering promptly via the Eventbrite links.

Turkey Run State Parks will also host its annual Eagles in Flight Weekend on Jan. 26-28. This weekend event offers caravan eagle tours, songbird banding demonstrations, and presentations on eagles and other birds. Indiana Audubon staff and volunteers will be present at a booth, ready to share information and resources about birdwatching in the Hoosier state.

Registration is open for these and other Indiana Audubon events, but space is limited. Go to indianaaudubon.org/events to see our full schedule of upcoming events.
