Indiana Audubon invites bird enthusiasts to join its annual winter eagle-watching field trips, where participants can observe Bald Eagles congregating at key water sources during morning feeding activity, often in large numbers.
While it’s true that many species of birds are limited to specific habitats and ecological niches, including intolerance for below-freezing temperatures, many are highly adaptable. This includes birds like herons and bluebirds you probably associate with spring nesting or summer streams.
Earlier this year, Indiana Audubon was approached by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Fish and Wildlife, with a practical conservation challenge. Two long-standing Peregrine Falcon nest boxes in Indianapolis were in poor condition and needed replacement.
The Sanctuary is the thing that brought me to Indiana Audubon and Birding. For that I will be forever grateful, and I will continue to volunteer and give to the Sanctuary that felt like it saved me, for as long as I am able.
