Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary Open House

Explore the beautiful grounds of Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary!

Spend part of your Labor Day weekend learning all about Indiana Audubon’s Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary and enjoy all the perks of membership during our Fall Open House. It’s your chance to explore over 700 acres of forests, wetlands, and prairies, just outside of Connersville. Special free morning and afternoon nature walks will be offered, as well as fall bird banding demonstrations to learn more about the research that takes place at Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary.

As an added bonus, the ponds will be open for free fishing with special fishing demos offered from 11am-3pm.  Poles, bait, and instruction will be provided, or bring your own pole.  Free rustic camping is available both Friday and Saturday night.  Campfire wood is provided.

Tentative Schedule of Activities:
9am-10am song bird banding
10am-11am Birds and Nature hike
11am-3pm Free Fishing Demos

** While Saturday’s activities are free, advance registration is required for families wishing to camp overnight**

The Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary is owned and operated by the Indiana Audubon and is located south of Connersville in Fayette County. It was set aside in 1947, and is open from dawn to dusk each day. Learn more and join Indiana Audubon at indianaaudubon.org.
