Indiana Audubon strongly opposes Senate Bill 389 that recently passed out of committee. Indiana has lost 85% of wetlands it once had a century ago. What precious few acres we have left are critical for flood control, drinking water, and wildlife value.
Senate Bill 389 will repeal the state’s important wetlands law, stripping protections for many of the wetlands that we have left. The bill is aimed to support less red tape for builders and developers in the destruction of wetlands than inconvenience construction projects.
We encourage all Indiana Audubon members to stand up in opposing this destructive habitat bill and contact your local senator to oppose Senate Bill 389. Contact your Senators Here.
