Summit Lake Waterfowl Trip
March 12 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm EST

Join Indiana Audubon for a morning of early spring birding among the often productive waterfowl haven found at Summit Lake State Park, in east central Indiana. Summit Lake covers 2,680 acres, including an 800-acre lake. The park is a mix of woodlands, old fields, wetlands, and prairie restoration areas which provide a wide range of flora and fauna. More than 100 species of birds reside in the park, and the area is popular among photographers and bird watchers.
The field trip will begin just outside the entrance gate on Saturday, March 13. Registered participants will meet at 9:00 AM ET and bird the site through the morning hours, ending before noon. In recent years, a good variety of waterfowl can be present on the sheltered lake. We will also drive the nearby areas of the park in search of early migrants and raptors.
The field trip will be led by IAS member Richard Garrett. Registration is required below, as most IAS trips fill fast. For more information, email Richard at [email protected]
All participants should plan on traveling separately rather than carpool during multiple location trips
All participants must read and agree to the IAS Field Trip Release to participate in IAS led events and trips. Field trips are free for IAS- Members and $10 for non-members.
