Sparrow ID Workshop with Annie Aguirre
September 14 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT$10 – $20
Often referred to as “LBBs” (Little Brown Birds), sparrows are one of those bird groups that birders often avoid like the plague when it comes to identification. Give sparrows a closer look, and you’ll be surprised how varied and charming these birds can be. Get to know your sparrows in this 3 hour workshop, led by IAS Board Member Annie Aguirre. Annie will explore and cover tips and tricks with identification and fascinating facts regarding Indiana’s sparrow species. This workshop is a great primer for the fall sparrow migration season and will cover most of the expected species you might encounter.
Following the indoor session, the group will head out for a bird walk where participants can put their new identification skills to the test. Participants will want to bring binoculars.
The workshop will be held at the nature center at Potato Creek State Park, in North Liberty, IN on Saturday, September 14, from 1-4pm. Registration is required and available below. Space is limited, and IAS workshops and trips often fill up well in advance. Park entrance fees to Potato Creek are not included with registration, and must be paid upon entry to the park ($5 Indiana Resident, $7 out of state resident, free with annual pass). For questions or more information, contact Annie Aguirre.
