Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary Saw-whet Owl Banding Demonstrations
November 5, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm EDT

Burn the midnight oil with the Indiana Audubon as they bring the 14th season of saw-whet owl banding. Visitors can learn about Indiana’s smallest owl in this up-close and personal experience at Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary during this special evening event.
The program occurs at 7pm ET. Participants will get the chance to see captured owls being banded at the banding field station during hourly checks. Participants can stay as long as they like, as volunteers do a minimum of three checks each night. This program is weather dependent and the banding will not occur if rains or high winds are present.
Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary is located at 3499 S Bird Sanctuary Rd, Connersville, IN. All times are Eastern Time.
As part of the evening’s activities, Mark Booth, from Take Flight will be on-hand with live birds of prey as well. A campfire will also be available (bring your smore’s and sticks, or borrow some of ours!).
All participants must read and agree to the IAS Field Trip Release to participate in IAS led events and trips. Banding demonstration nights involve a $5 fee made as a donation towards Indiana Audubon and help fund supplies needed to keep the research project going. Registration is below.
