Goose Pond Late Fall Raptors & Waterfowl Field Trip
November 19, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 4:30 pm EST

Indiana Audubon invites you for an afternoon at Goose Pond FWA in search of waterfowl and raptors. Located in Greene County just south of the town of Linton, Goose Pond’s 8000+ acres represent Indiana’s largest and most successful habitat restoration project. Late November can be an exciting time as fall migration wraps up and wintering birds begin to settle in. This can include various waterfowl, and an assortment of wintering raptors before it begins to get very cold. Possible raptors include both Bald and Golden Eagles, Rough-legged Hawks, Merlins, Northern Harriers, as well as Short-eared Owls in the grasslands near dusk.
The trip will be led by IAS member Mark Welter, and involves carpooling from the Indy area at noon (ET). Registered participants will meet at the Target parking lot in Avon (10209 E. US 36). Bring snacks and drinks as we’ll continue birding until sunset for owls. For additional questions and info on the trip, contact Mark Welter.
All participants must read and agree to the IAS Field Trip Release to participate in IAS led events and trips. Field trips are free for IAS- Members and $10 for non-members.  We hope to see you there!
