IAS Fall Festival 2021

October 1 @ 7:00 pm - October 3 @ 10:00 am EDT

IAS Fall Festival 2021: October 1-3, 2021

Plan to join us again for a beautiful weekend of fall birding! Always, a beautiful time of year, the fall migration begins the promise of return as our beloved winged friends depart southward. This year the Indiana Audubon Society is bringing you an array of programs and birding opportunities, based this year from the Canyon Inn in beautiful McCormick’s Creek State Park in southern Indiana. Be sure to stay the weekend to enjoy this year’s Saturday night keynote dinner with Bob Dolgan.

Where We Will Be:

McCormick’s Creek State Park is part of the Indiana Birding Trail. Indiana’s first State Park, McCormick’s Creek, boasts nearly 2,000 acres of scenic woodlands and a diversity of other habitats: floodplain, wetland, creek, river, rocky outcroppings, karst plains, and a mosaic of different aged forest stands.  $7.00 entrance fee for IN residents. Annual passes are available.

Saturday Night Keynote Program, 6pm-9pm
Canyon Inn Oak Room, McCormick’s Creek State Park

Get “ploverized” this weekend as we welcome Bob Dolgan, filmmaker for the new “World of Monty and Rose feature-length documentary film.  The film follows up on the 2019 short documentary “Monty and Rose”, the first Piping Plovers to nest in Chicago in over 70 years.  The film explores the birds’ story as they struggle towards nesting success and face down a giant music festival within feet of their nest.  Defying the odds, Monty and Rose have now successfully hatched 11 chicks on a heavily trafficked urban beach, and now have offspring establishing new nests in the Great Lakes.  Bob Dolgan will introduce the history of Monty and Rose, and will answer questions after the Indiana premiere screening of the World of Monty and Rose.
