Join Indiana Audubon Society for a two hour introduction to the popular online birding checklist and resource called eBird. This hands-on workshop is designed for both beginning bird watchers and general nature enthusiasts looking to learn more about the the online and mobile portions of the web based application that allow birders to log their bird species in the field, search for interesting and rare birds near them, and even help identify the birds they are seeing. A sample of the topics covered include:
- How to sign up and submit your sightings
- How to get a list of birds you might see in a state, county, or hot spot
- How to see where birds are being seen on a map
- How scientists use eBird sightings
- Demo eBird with your own smartphone
The workshop will take place at the McCormick’s Creek State Park Nature Center. Participants should bring a smart phone if you have one and a pair of binoculars. Each workshop will include indoor and outdoor portions. Registration is required and can be made using the registration ticket system below. Registration is free for IAS and $5.00 for non-IAS members. Normal state park entrance fees apply for entry into McCormick’s Creek SP. Limited space is available for each workshop.
