Winter Sax-Zim Bog Owl Trip 2019 – FULL
February 15 - February 18$165 – $328
THIS TRIP IS FULL
Experience the soaring beauty of winter on an adventure with IAS into the heart of the Northwoods encountering owls, finches, and other breathtaking birds of the boreal forest.
Perfect for birders with a taste for wild adventure, this four-day trip in early 2019 (Feb 15-18) traverses from the northern shore of Lake Superior to the brilliant snow-capped forests and marshlands of Sax-Zim Bog. The reward for the journey is an abundance in wild bird beauty seldom seen in the states. Here, Northern Shrikes can be seen perching proudly against the fierce winds and swiftly plucking their silent prey from snowbanks. Shimmering finches, grosbeaks, and waxwings weave their way through the harsh winter winds–carrying songs as radiant as their feathers. In the in calm corridors of the forest, haunting calls of ravens reveal the presence of something greater–perhaps a fox or a lynx on the prowl–or the swift flight of a Northern Goshawk. Dare to look up, and you may even come face-to-face with the penetrating eyes of a Great Grey Owl. Whatever winter’s wild cards bring, this tour aims to be an unforgettable adventure worthy of any birder’s bucket list.
