Costa Rica Virtual Birding Trip I: Caribbean Lowland Rainforest Birding
November 19, 2020 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am EST$10 – $15
In an exciting birding partnership with Lifer Nature Tours, Indiana Audubon is happy to present two special virtual birding field trips to beautiful Costa Rica. On this morning, you can join Lifer Nature Tours creator and expert birder, Juan Diego, in the famous Tpada Rainforest in the Caribbean Lowlands of Costa Rica. Juan Diego will broadcast live at one of the most active bird feeders of the whole country with the attempt to offer you the real adventure of being there at the hour where birds are most active. The search for the first “Virtual Lifers” will start with a galore of Scarlet-rumped, Plain-colored and Crimson-collared Tanagers that will share the table with a number of Shining, Red-legged and Green honeycreepers.
As we continue to bird, we’ll get great views of Chestnut-colored, Black-cheeked and Pale-billed woodpeckers among with Brown-hooded and Red-lored parrots and of course we will expect the regular visit of a small pack of the beautiful Collared Aracaris. Toucans in the wild are also a real possibility. This is not a presentation, not a pre-recorded video, real birds in real time will give our small group the wild adrenaline to connect and learn from the nature. Every time Juan Diego finds a new tropical bird he will set his camera in the scope so you can have a crystal clear live image of the bird as he will narrate to you all noteworthy natural history aspects and identification tips to truly understand what is happening at the moment.
All IAS member registration proceeds are going towards Lifer Nature Tours and the beautiful sites that host these amazing birds. Registration is below, and is $10 for Indiana Audubon members ($15 for non members). A minimum of 5 participants is required. All virtual field trips begin at 8am EST/7am CST (7am Costa Rican time!). Total time “in the field” is approximately one hour. All pre-registered participants will be sent a Zoom invite link prior to the event. For questions, visit Here.
